    Aces Wired - Two aces which comes after one another

    Act - The actions of a player to check, call, fold, open bet or raise.

    Action - The true bet is termed as action when a person puts his money in the game. A player who puts indefinite amount of money is termed as running into ‘a lot of action’.

    Add-on - It’s the process where a player can buy additional number of chips.

    Aggressive - A player is who is changing the pattern of is game from time to time and always shuffles with his betting techniques.

    Alligator Blood - (USA) A player, who is tough and not vulnerable to any kind of pressure.

    All-in - It is the player, who bets all his wagering money available at the time on the table.

    Ante - A small amount of the money that a player needs to put before he starts playing the game. Every casino game has a definite amount of the starting bet which a player needs to put down before the game.

    Back Door - The method where the last two cards are dealt in seven card stud using hands.

    Back-to-back (BB) - When a player starts dealing with a pair having the first two cards

    Bad Beat - The pot where a player would surely win, he loses from that situation.

    Bank - The backbone of any gambling operation, any financial transaction is made through it.

    Banker - The card game, which involves any action, when the dealer or other players captures any action of the other bettors in the table at that moment.

    Behind - The situation, where a person lags behind a player, who has a better hand at that moment. The situation occurs before last card is dealt.

    Bicycle Wheel - The hand of A, 2, 3, 4, 5 together is called wheel or bicycle.

    Bug - A joker.

    Bump - To raise.

    Buried - A pair in the hole in the seven card stud is called buried.

    Burn - a card which is removed from the top of the deck at a very crucial point in the deal. One card is often placed on the bottom of the deck or in a tray at the beginning of the shuffle and cut of the game. This tray is called burning tray.

    Bust - To encounter a situation where a person runs out of money. It’s the ultimate case.

    Busted Hand - a hand which has a value less than a pair. If someone misses it he is busted straight

    Button - A player within the button is on the verge of receiving the last cards. The flat disc is often called button.

    Buy - player buys a bigger pot so that other players are unable to call in that situation. He makes the deal big enough

    Buy-in - The players buys the chips to gamble

    Card Sharp - A person expert in playing cards.

    Cards Speak - The unique rule where the value of the cards is only determined by the cards. Some people don’t have hands in order to claim his pot.

    Caribbean Stud Poker - It is also denoted by 'Casino Stud Poker', it is a casino table which is based on the standard 5-card stud poker game. It is played on a Blackjack-type table. Caribbean Stud Poker is played with only one deck of cards.

    Community Cards - Some cards are dealt face up n the middle of the poker table and the rankings are revealed to all the players.

    Connectors (Connected) - Pocket cards are mainly termed as connectors. They can be of consecutive ranks. The cards belonging to similar suits are called suited connectors.

    Cowboys - Kings.

    Crack - When a powerful hand is beat it is 'cracked' (e.g. pocket aces).

    Crying Call - A call by a player who is virtually certain they will not win the pot, and probably knows it.

    Cut - at the beginning pack of cards are split before they are dealt.

    Cut Card - The cards used to split the cards after the shuffle. These are mainly colorless cards.

    Dead - When a player is not eligible to win the pot.

    Dead Money - A player not always can win the pot. So the chip dealt by a person who is unable to win the game is called Dead money. It’s of no use.

    Deal - Deal is made when a person utilizes his hands to give out the cards

    Designated Dealer - Every game of poker has a definite dealer to tell the rules and regulation of the game. These types of dealers are called designated dealer who are responsible for a certain job.

    Deuce - Twos are often called deuces.

    Discard Tray - The tray which contains all the cards which are of no use and the dealer keeps it in a tray called discarded tray.

    Dominate - The hand which always dominant from the starting and cannot make way for the other deals. Likewise in a Hold’em poker, AK is always found to dominate over K2

    Door Card - an initial card which is showed at the beginning of the seven card stud poker.

    Draw - To draw a card (e.g. if you need a card to make a straight, you are on a 'straight draw' or are 'drawing to a straight'. In draw poker, the second round of cards that are dealt. The word draw has slightly different meanings in different contexts, although generally it has something to do with receiving more cards, with the hope of improving your hand. Draw games are games where at some point during the hand you are allowed to discard some or all of your cards, to be replaced from the deck. Drawing two is thus exchanging two of your cards. 'The draw' is the point during the game at which players may do this. By default, when someone asks you if you want to play some draw, they usually mean five card draw. In other poker games, drawing simply means staying in the game with the hope of improving your hand when more cards come. When you stay in a hand with the hope of improving, you are said to be 'on a draw'.

    Fill - The technique to draw card such that it makes a five card hand.

    Fill up - The method to fill a full house.

    Fish - A player who is very inexperienced.

    Fishing - A player, who stays in the game for longer amount of time. He is clearly fishing for the card that will make him a clear winner.

    Fishhooks - Jacks.

    Flat Call - When a player oppose to calling, flat calling makes sure the fact that the player didn't raise.

    Flop - There are various games, which are played with five community cards. Generall the three of the first cards are called the flop cards. The game dealing with this flop cards are called flop games.

    Flush - The Five cards within the same suit.

    Fold - (Also, Drop) when a player disobeys a poker hand. The player cancels a bet and drops out of the hand.

    Foul - When a hand is concerned with wrong numbers of cards. A fouled is often called losing hand.

    Four of a Kind - Four cards having the same rank, is also known as Quads.

    Fourth Street - The fourth card is used as hand of stud poker. In seven-card stud, the second round of betting is called fourth street because players have four cards. Different games have different rules in Texas’em it is the fourth round of play.

    Free Card - when everyone checks a player does not need to see the card he can call for bet.

    Freeroll - When a player has hand and that will at least share the pot but still has a chance of winning, then it is said to be freerolling. This process is also shown in the online poker rooms where a player can easily learn before playing for the real money. A player can sign up and play for free.

    Freeze-out - The tournament where a person cannot re-buy.

    Full House - A hand which consists of three cards each of one rank and two cards of another rank.

    Isolate - isolate means to raise with the intention of removing everyone else from the hand except that player.

    Joker - (Also, Wild Card) the 53rd card in a deck, is called as a wild card. It can be ranked as a card that can be labeled whatever suit and rank the possessor wishes to.

    Kalooki (also, Kalookie, Kaluki, kaloochi, Caloochi) - a game which is similar like rummy with some changes in it. The game is often played with wild cards. The rules may be different depending upon where the game is played.

    Kicker - The highest card that are unpaired and dose not participate in a straight or flush

    Limit (Limit Poker) - The rules in a game in which there is a fixed limit on how much a player can bet or raise his amount of money in any round.

    Limp - To flat call an opening forced bet is to limp into a hand.

    Live card - A new card that has not been revealed or seen

    Mechanic's Grip - The ultimate way a cheater holds the deck of cards to accelerate his calculations.

    Middle Pair - The middle one, of the three cards of different ranks on the flop in Hold'em, is called middle pair.

    Mitt joint - (USA) A club where the house cheats with players, this turns a blind eye to cheating in public.

    Monster - A strong hand, that is almost certainly sure to win the pot.

    Muck - To 'muck' means to put he cards into the pile of discarded cards when the game is on the verge of ending.

    No-limit - A betting form where players can bet any amount they choose, from the chips or money in lying front of them.

    Nuts (or Nut) - The best possible hand is called nuts.

    Nut Straight - The highest possible straight bet in a given hand.

    Odds - The probability of making or not making a hand this phenomenon is of calculative in nature.

    Off-suit - of the different suit.

    Omaha - A flop game dealt similar to Hold'em but with four down-cards each. A hand is made using five from a possible nine, but two and only two must be used from the player’s hand.

    Open - To 'open betting' means to bet for the first round.

    Overpair - In flop games, a pocket pair higher than the highest card on the board. If you hold AA and the flop is K62, you have a nice overpair.

    Paint - A card having a picture of Jack, King or Queen.

    Pair - Two cards having the same rank.

    Pasadena - Fold.

    Pass - To not bet, to fold.

    Passive Play - A unique trait of play that is known by reluctance to bet and raise.

    Pat - It is mainly a draw poker, in a pat a hand that does not need any more hands.

    Proposition Player (Similar to 'Shill' in casinos) - a player who plays and is paid by the cardroom. They are paid a definite amount of salary but they bet with their own amount. They are the game goers

    Protect - To protect a hand is to bet so that more people will come out in real colors, reducing the chances of anyone out casting any player.

    Pushka - (USA) An arrangement made for two or more of the players to share part of the pot's money, it is also known as the container into which the shared chips are kept.

    Quads - the four of its kind.

    Qualifier - In poker, the minimum points which a player must meet in order for it to be eligible to take part in the pot.

    Rabbit Hunting - For example, if a hold'em poker player folds a flush draw, but would like to know if the flush would have come in, he or she might ask the dealer to deal out the next few cards.     Riffling (Card Riffling) - To accomplish a riffle, the deck is divided roughly in half and the two halves are interleaved by pulling the card corners up with the thumbs and letting the two halves 'riffle' together. Riffling is also sometimes called 'zipping' the cards. It’s a common shuffling process.

    River - The final (seventh) card dealt in Hold'em, Omaha or Seven Card Stud. In seven-card stud, staying in until the fifth and final round of betting is called going to the river.

    Seven Card Flip - It’s in a seven card stud poker where first four cards are dealt facing down and then the player turns any two, face up.

    Seven Card Stud - A new variation which involves dealing seven cards to each player, but only five cards are used to make a hand

    Sevens Rule - It’s a rule in the low ball poker in which a player having a bet lower than seven must withdraw to gain further profits.

    Seventh Street - In seven-card stud, the fifth and final round of betting is called Seventh Street because players have seven cards.

    Shiner - A mirror like reflecting device where a cheater can see the unexposed cards

    Short Call - A player when a call with the entire money one has got on the table. It is referred to the partial part of the bet.

    Shorthanded - It is a game, where the margin deliberately falls below a certain count of players.

    Short Pair - A pair, which is less than the openers.

    Short Stack - A player, who is running short of the chips and is unlikely to win in the game.

    Short Stud - Five-card stud poker.

    Shotgun - Draw poker with extra rounds of betting that start after the third card is dealt.

    Shove Them Along - A choice in five card stud player where a player can take the first up card deal or pass it to the next player.

    Showdown - If one or more players are still in the pot the players need to show their hands in order the house can determine its winner.

    Shuffle - The mixing up of the cards before the start of the game.

    Shuffling (Card Shuffling) - is a common term which states card mixing techniques used to prepare a deck or a shoe for continued play. All casino shuffling processes employ a combination of mixing techniques. These may include 'Stripping' or 'washing' the cards as well as 'riffling', 'boxing', 'plugging', 'cutting' and other off-spring techniques. All shuffling processes employ multiple riffles of 'clumps', 'picks', or 'grabs' to achieve some level of randomization.

    Side Money - Money kept allotted for main pot in table stakes

    Side Pot - If the call bet or the raise bet is $20 and a player has $15 only, this player makes an 'all in' bet (he puts all his money into the pot). In this case a side pot is created for those players who have more money to bet. The $5 difference is placed into this side pot. All other active players carry on betting and their money is placed into this side pot and if at the end one of them has the best hand, he or she wins both; the main pot and the side pot. If the 'all in' player has the best hand, he or she claims the main pot, and the side pot is awarded to the best hand among those players who were still active in betting. You win a pot that you put money into.

    Sign on Your Back - Someone who closely related with cheating activities.

    Singleton - The single rank in the card.

    Sixth Street - In a seven-stud game, the fourth round of betting is termed as Sixth Street. The players have six cards

An annoying habit that means you slowly reveal that you have the winning hand. To reveal one's hand slowly at showdown, one card at a time (to irritate other players who think they won).

    Small Blind - See 'Big Blind'.

    Smooth Call - to bet for more than one deal that’s strong enough to win the game

    Snap Off - Winning with a less powerful hand against the bluffer or another weaker player. It is then termed as snapping off.

    Snarker - A player who wins a pot and then frustrates the loser.

    Soft - Easy.

    South - (USA) Fold.

    Spikes - A pair of aces.

    Splash (the pot) - To spread the chips into the pot, instead of placing them in front of the player

    Spread Limit - Betting limits in which there is a fixed minimum and maximum bet for each betting round, and any amount in between these limits may be bet.

    Squeeze Bet or Squeeze Raise - To bet or raise against another strong hand in order to extract more money from a third player holding a weaker hand.

    Stack - all the chips form a stack

    Steal - an attempt to steal a pot by bluffing the other players misleading them in a odd way.

    Steam - a player on the bad run or tilt is said to be steaming

    Stenographers - Four queens.

    Still Pack - The cards not in use when two decks are used.

    Stonewall - A person who calls to end up the poor show in the poker.

    Straight - Five cards of consecutive ranks or in sequence.

    Straight Draw - Draw poker not requiring openers.

    Straight Flush - A hand consisting of five cards of consecutive ranks and of the same suit.

    Stripping (Card Stripping) - a technique which reverses the sequential order of the cards in the deck. Imagine if a dealer took the first card off the top of a deck and placed it on the table and then took the second card off the top and placed it on top of the first card. If this process were continued until the 52nd card was placed on top, then the sequential ordering among the cards would have been completely reversed. This characterizes the basic process of striping. The process described above would be a very fine strip. Often the dealers will speed up the process by rapidly pulling small clumps of cards off the top of the deck rather than a single card at a time. The number of cards in the clumps determines how fine or coarse the striping process is.

    Stud Poker - It forms the basic form of the poker game. It is played with open or exposed cards and one of the concealed cards known as hole cards.

    Tell - A unique expression which reveals important information.

    Tell Play - the dealer's body language and expressions can be observed to determine his hole card. This can leads to the situation where a player can easily judge a dealers body language.

    Texas Hold'em - (or simply Hold'em) Is a poker game where a player always gets two pocket cards, the five community cards are dealt straight face up on the table.

    Third Street - The first round of betting where a player has three cards is called Third Street. This game is usually seen in seven card stud.

    Thirty Days or Thirty Miles - Three tens collectively

    Three Of A Kind - Three cards having the same rank.

    Tierce - A three-card having straight flush.

    Tiger - a low hand suffered from the two to the seven.

    Tight - Conservative.

    Tight Player - A player who rarely bets unless he has a strong hand.

    Tilt (Tilting) - Tilting refers to the situation when a player makes bad decision due to the huge amount of loss he has suffered.

    Time Cut (Also, Axe or Collection) - The amount charged on an hourly basis by the casino owners are known as Time cut. It varies from casino to casino.

    Top Pair - The utmost top card having the highest rank within the different varieties of cards. Usually the top pair is the highest one. If there are three cards of different ranks on the flop in Hold'em (or any flop game), and you pair the highest one, you have top pair.

    Trap - A space where a player is trapped after putting his money. There is no way of continuing his betting in such kind of situations.

    Trey - A three.

    Tricon, Trio, Triplets, or Trips - Three of its kinds

    Turn - In the flop game the fourth of five community. It is also sometimes called Fourth Street.

    Two-Card Poker - a game where the best two cards win

    Two Pair - A hand consisting of two sets of pairs and a singleton. A hand consisting of two cards of one rank, and two cards of another rank, and an unpaired card (e.g. KK992).

    Underdog - When two hands face off, the underdog is the one that is less likely to win.

    Up - It is usually referred to the highest pair of two

    Valet - A jack.

    Value - The amount of return you get on your betting investment.

    Washing (Card Washing) - A card shuffling technique where the dealer spreads the cards on the table face down and proceeds to mix them around with his hands flat in a face-washing-like action before gathering them up and performing a more normal shuffle. It removes any consistencies in the sequence among the cards. In standard table poker the cards are washed after every hand before they are subjected to a more conventional shuffling. In blackjack and baccarat, the cards are washed when old decks are taken out of play and fresh new decks brought in to replace them.

    Weak - A style of play characterized by a readiness to fold and reluctance to rise. Also describes a poor player.

    Whangedoodle - A round of game of jackpots, which is played after a big hand such as four of a kind.

    White Meat - Profit.

    Wild Card - (Also, Joker) a particular card that can be tagged whatever suit and rank the player wishes to.

    Wired (Back-to-Back) - A pair, trips, or four of a kind dealt simultaneously back in hand mainly in stud starting with the first card.

    Wire-up - The first three cards of three of its kind.
